Grandview High School experienced a second student that has tested positive for COVID-19. During our contract tracing, we were able to determine that our school’s in-person precautions successfully kept our students safe in the classrooms. We had minimal students affected by the contract tracing within the school building. Most of our affected students were due to involvement in activities outside of the school day. Our goal is to keep our students safe while they are with us.
Thank you for helping support us with monitoring your student’s health and keeping them home when symptomatic. Remember if your student is exhibiting any of the following symptoms, please keep them home.
The Big Three: new cough, difficulty breathing, loss of taste or smell (student should get tested)
Other common symptoms: fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, congestion or runny nose, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and fever
Parents, realize that fever is one of the last COVID-19 symptoms to appear. Our policy in the past has been to send students to school as long as they don’t have a fever. This year we are asking you to keep your students home if they are exhibiting any of the above symptoms. Do not wait until they have a fever because they could potentially be contagious for multiple days around others. I am providing the CDC flowchart so you are able to see how we determine when students are sent home. If your student is sent home due to illness, they may return after they have been symptom and fever free for 24 hours.
I want to thank both our parents and students for how helpful and willing all of you are to help us keep our students safe and in school. We could not do this without your support.
